9 reasons we’ll always choose Cancun over other Mexican destinations

We have been all over Mexico and have loved every minute, but there is something about Cancun that makes us want to return time and time again

Beaches are next-level gorgeous

We have been to other beaches in Mexico, but nothing can compare to Cancun. The sand is so white and fluffy it feels like you are stepping on powdered sugar.

Don’t even get me started on the water! Crystal turquoise blue that you could swim in for days. I remember the first time we stepped onto the beach in Playa Delfines, our mouths literally dropped. You will not find this type of beauty anywhere else.

All-Inclusive resorts are a dream

Want to be pampered? Cancun will do that for you. Our resort was all-inclusive, which literally means all you can drink, delicious food, and a swim-up bar. For the first time, we felt like we were indulging. There are other all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, but trust us when we say Cancun goes that extra mile.

Nightlife is on fire

My husband and I aren’t normally party lovers, but there’s something about Cancun that brings out our fun side. The vibe is infectious, from dancing at Coco Bongo to margaritas at a beach bar. Even if we just want a fun night out, there are always places with live music to chill out.

It’s surprisingly easy to get around

Compared to other parts of Mexico we visited, traveling within Cancun was so easy. Whether we wanted to catch a ferry to Isla Mujeres or take a day trip to Tulum, it was hassle-free. The bus system is affordable and efficient and taxis are plentiful. We never felt stressed trying to get around like we did in some areas.

Food scene is phenomenal

We ate some of the best tacos of our lives at a small hole in the wall just south of downtown Cancun. You really can’t get bored because they serve both Mexican and International food. Also, the seafood is unreal: fresh and amazing. Did I mention you can order grilled lobster while you hang on the beach?

There’s adventure around every corner

From snorkeling in cenotes to zip lining through the jungle, there is adventure to be had at every turn. I will never forget snorkeling with turtles at Akumal, about an hour from Cancun. It was a dream come true. The best part about all of these adventures is how close everything is to Cancun. You don’t have to travel far to have fun.

It’s perfect for relaxation and romance

Whenever we go to Cancun, we always feel like we can unwind and reconnect as a couple. Whether that means lounging in a hammock or watching the sunset over the Laguna, there is something so romantic about being there. We even found this secluded beach where we literally had it all to ourselves.

People are so welcoming

The people in Cancun are so kind. From our tour guide who happened to have grown up in nearby Playa del Carmen to the hotel staff that remembered our names, everyone was super friendly and went out of their way to ensure we were having a good time. That type of hospitality makes you want to return.

It’s a great balance of fun and comfort

Cancun is the perfect blend of adventure and comfort. It’s a modern town that caters to tourists but still gives you an authentic Mexican vibe. We have been to other spots in Mexico, but they seemed to lack that balance. Cancun has it all.
