7 thrilling adventures you can only experience in Dubai

If you’re looking for excitement, Dubai offers thrilling experiences you simply won’t find anywhere else.

Jet skiing by the Burj Al Arab

We rented Jet Skis one morning and took off out on the Arabian Gulf. Flying across the gulf with the turquoise water and Burj Al Arab in the background was amazing. We pulled over multiple times to take pictures and just soak in Dubai from the water. Neither of us wanted to end our ride, we had never seen Dubai from a different perspective like that before.

Indoor skiing at Ski Dubai

Stepping foot into Ski Dubai was unreal. One hour we were standing outside in the Dubai sun and the next we were inside covered in snow with ski lifts and people wearing winter coats.

Me and my husband couldn’t stop giggling at how ridiculous we looked skiing in the desert. We spent hours skiing back and forth, riding the lift and chucking snowballs at each other. It was such a fun activity and really showed us how unexpected things in Dubai can be.

Desert safari

One activity that surpassed all expectations was our desert safari. As we drove away from the city, we entered a world of golden sand dunes that went on for miles. I white-knuckled it during our dune-bashing experience while my husband enjoyed every second.

We also tried sandboarding, watched the sunset in the desert, rode camels, and ended our night with a traditional dinner and cultural shows under the stars. It was like we were in a whole other world and we only drove a few minutes away from Dubai.

Desert ziplining at Jebel Jais

The day we spent at Jebel Jais (about 2 hours from Dubai) absolutely thrilled us. We spent most of the day at the top of the mountain either hiking or zip lining through the air. Standing on the launch platform my heart was pounding and I was nervous about actually doing it.

My husband, on the other hand, couldn’t wait to launch! The second we soared through the air, all my jitters went away. We raced through the air high above the rocky mountains and deep canyons. The views were spectacular and unlike any views we had seen on our trip.

Exploring Atlantis’ Lost Chambers Aquarium

Walking through Atlantis’ Lost Chambers Aquarium felt like we had entered an entire world beneath the sea. We walked through tunnels and giant glass windows watching graceful rays, tropical fish, and gigantic sharks swim right by us.

There was something about walking around and seeing these exotic fish in tunnels that gave the aquarium an ancient Atlantis vibe. We stopped every few steps in awe of the sea life. This aquarium was peaceful. It was beautifully made and was a nice break from the rush of the city. We have been to many aquariums over the years and this was easily one of our favorites.

Hot air ballooning over the desert

One early morning we went on a hot air balloon ride. Seeing the sunrise peek over the desert with camels and oryx grazing in the distance was beautiful. My husband even let go and held my hand while we were up high; it was so peaceful yet so thrilling at the same time. Floating over the desert took my breath away, literally. I’ll never forget the number of colors the sunrise brought and how silent it was.

Skydiving over Palm Jumeirah

Skydiving over Palm Jumeirah has to be the most adrenaline-pumping activity my husband and I did while in Dubai. Although I was scared to death as the plane kept ascending to jump altitude, as soon as we jumped out of that plane, all fear left my body. Seeing the palm island jut out into the turquoise-colored Arabian Gulf with Dubai’s jaw-dropping skyline in the distance was breathtaking.

My husband landed with the largest grin on his face while all I could do was laugh hysterically from the adrenaline high. It was pricey but totally worth it; not to mention it’s a once in a lifetime experience!
